Creating A Unified Training Program:
Today more than ever, exists a need for a consistent and comprehensive training tool for the waterworks industry. With aging infrastructure that is being replaced from coast to coast, to the natural disasters and immediate repair of water systems by volunteers from across the U.S., to the shortage of field laborers becoming prevalent as baby boomers retire, proper training and education is at its highest need throughout the waterworks industry and across the nation.
In recognizing the need that lies ahead, Water Works Industry Solutions (WWIS) has devoted over 2 years to finding a new solution which will help aid new laborers, refresh current laborers, foreman and engineers by providing a training program to help them understand and learn the tools of the trade. By using the latest technology and current industry standards and installations, WWIS has developed Training and Installation “The Basics.”
“The Basics” was designed by educators and waterworks industry professionals. It is a series of DVD lessons created to help supplement and aid in the understanding and safety of the most common waterworks parts, how they are used in the field and their general installations. Each lesson was created in part by following industry associations such as AWWA, Uni-Bell and DIPRA’s standards in conjunction with industry manufacturers for accuracy.
We are confident that our research and devotion to creating a better training program will help and inspire a greater sense of respect and motivation in the industry. We feel these lessons will encourage a solid unified training program throughout the waterworks industry.
